Purpose & Scientific Principle

Through comparative display of exhibits, the audience can understand the relationship between building structure and seismic performance, explore which building structure has better seismic performance, think about what other ways can be used to improve the seismic performance of the building, and also exercise their teamwork and hands-on abilities.

How to Operate

The exhibition items are composed of platform body, vibration platform, architectural model, anti-seismic components, construction parts, knobs, etc.

This exhibition uses a motor to drive a crank-slider mechanism to achieve reciprocating motion to simulate earthquake effects. Four groups of building models are set up on the wall, namely concrete structure building model, steel structure building model, masonry structure building model and wood structure building model. Building model construction materials are provided on the booth, and visitors can build their own building models and place them on the vibrating platform.

Press the button on the booth and adjust the knob to control the vibration frequency of the seismic platform to compare and understand the seismic performance of the built building model.

Materials for building structures such as small round rods are provided on the operating table. The audience works in groups and uses the materials provided to build the strongest building structure. Place it on the vibration platform, put equal weights on it, set different vibration frequencies, and compare and see which group has built a structure with better seismic resistance.

The exhibit uses a vibration platform to test the seismic performance of different structural buildings. The table is equipped with a variety of building parts for building. Visitors can refer to the wall building model to build buildings with different structures and test them on the vibration platform. In order to better demonstrate the effect, the vibration platform only shakes on the horizontal surface, and its frequency can be adjusted.
