Purpose & Scientific Principle
Through this exhibition, visitors can examine each pair of chromosomes in detail and understand their functions.
How to Operate
This exhibition item consists of a display screen, an interactive turntable, etc. The turntable is set with 23 pairs of chromosome options corresponding to the human body. After the audience turns the turntable to select one of the pairs, a video will be played to introduce the characteristics of the corresponding chromosomes and the information they carry.
Human cells have 23 pairs of chromosomes (22 pairs of autosomes and 1 pair of sex chromosomes), that is, each cell has a total of 46 chromosomes and has a unique gene sequence and characteristics. In addition to this, human cells have hundreds of copies of mitochondrial chromosomes. Sequencing of the human genome provides a wealth of information about each chromosome.
23 pairs of chromosome models are located on a round table. Participants rotate the round table to examine a specific pair of chromosomes. When the rotation stops, the chromosomes will be illuminated and the detailed information of the current pair of chromosomes will be played on the large screen. The screen will also provide some genetic and characteristic information related to the pair of chromosomes.
