Purpose & Scientific Principle
The exhibits allow the audience to discover the existence of friction and inertia through electromechanical interaction and hands-on experience, recognize their characteristics, and exercise children's ability to explore and discover.
How to Operate
The exhibition item consists of two interactive wheels, a booth, a motor, buttons, etc. One can turn the wheel by itself, driving the rope to rotate, manually turn the handle, and watch the status of the rope; the other can press the button, the motor drives the wheel, and watch why the rope becomes hard and flies.
When the rope is between the rapidly rotating wheels, friction will drive the rope to move quickly, and the rope will maintain a certain shape due to inertia.
The property of an object remaining at rest or moving in a straight line at a uniform speed is called inertia. Inertia is an inherent property of an object, which is expressed as a degree of resistance of an object to changes in its motion state. Mass is a measure of the inertia of an object [1] . When the external force acting on an object is zero, inertia is expressed as the object maintaining its state of motion unchanged, that is, remaining stationary or moving in a straight line at a uniform speed; when the external force acting on the object is not zero, inertia is expressed as the difficulty with which the external force changes the state of motion of the object. Under the action of external force, the greater the mass of an object with the same acceleration, the greater its inertia. Therefore, the inertia of an object will not change at any time (under the influence of external force or not) and under any circumstances (stationary or moving), let alone disappear. Inertia is a property of matter itself.
