Purpose & Scientific Principle
The exhibition uses interactive experiences of different weather scenes to understand the characteristics of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms and climate, and learn relevant knowledge through exploration and comparison.
How to Operate
The exhibits consist of computers, projectors, audio, and motion sensing cameras.
The exhibits create interactive weather phenomenon scenes, allowing children to learn about the 24 solar terms and corresponding crop conditions through various experiences of "making wind and rain". The exhibits use advanced keying and multimedia technology, and the scenes in the projected images will change accordingly with the changes in the audience's body movements, making the display effect vivid and interesting.
Solar terms refer to the twenty-four seasons and climate. It is a supplementary calendar established in ancient China to guide farming. It is the crystallization of the long-term experience and wisdom of the working people of the Chinese nation.
Since ancient China was an agricultural society, agriculture required a strict understanding of the movement of the sun, and farming was carried out entirely based on the sun. Therefore, the "twenty-four solar terms" that individually reflect the solar cycle were added to the calendar and were used as the standard for determining leap months.
The orthodox Chinese twenty-four solar terms are based on Henan. The Chinese lunar calendar is a luni-solar calendar, which is based on the movement of the sun and the moon. Therefore, adding the twenty-four solar terms can better reflect the cycle of the sun.
