Purpose & Scientific Principle
Understand that light is a transverse wave. Its vibration direction and the propagation direction of the wave are perpendicular to each other, so there is polarization phenomenon. The polarization of light refers to the asymmetry of the vibration direction with respect to the propagation direction, which is called polarization. It is the most obvious sign that distinguishes transverse waves from other longitudinal waves. The phenomenon that the spatial distribution of the electric vector vibration of light waves loses symmetry with respect to the propagation direction of light is called polarization of light. Only transverse waves can produce polarization phenomena, so the polarization of light is another example of the wave nature of light. In a plane perpendicular to the propagation direction, it contains transverse vibrations in all possible directions, and on average has the same amplitude in any direction. This transverse vibration is symmetrical to the propagation direction. Light is called natural light (unpolarized light). Light whose vibrations lose this symmetry is collectively called polarized light. Due to the existence of polarization, when the ball passes through the polarization plane, it gives people the illusion that the ball "passes through the wall".
How to Operate
This exhibition set up a desktop mesh maze made of transparent plastic. There is a square box at the intersection of each transparent circular tube. When moving the balls, you will find that the small balls in some cylinders can pass through the baffles, while the small balls in some cylinders cannot pass through the baffles. Passing through is actually a visual mistake for people; some cylinders have polarizers attached to the walls, which look like baffles. In fact, there are no baffles, and the balls can pass through; some cylinders have real baffles, and the balls cannot pass through. There are 4 groups of exhibition items, which can be operated by 4 viewers at the same time. The audience starts from the starting point, carefully observes the inner block of the pipe, and transports the ball to the destination in the middle in the fastest time, and the music plays to express their congratulations. At this time, the system will record the game time, and the ball will automatically reset and lift to the starting position through the internal track to facilitate the audience's next participation.
Use magnets to attract the iron ball under the glass and make the ball move in the direction specified by you. See who can reach the small hole in the center the fastest.
