Purpose & Scientific Principle
White natural light is complex color light composed of various monochromatic lights; the phenomenon of complex color light decomposing into monochromatic light to form a spectrum is called dispersion of light. After the polychromatic light enters the prism, because it has different refractive indexes for light of various frequencies, the propagation directions of the various colored lights have different degrees of deflection. Therefore, they disperse when they leave the prism, and the colors are arranged in a certain order to form
How to Operate
. The console has a total of 3 sets of adjustable knobs. The lower part of the knobs is connected to a prism, and a high-power spotlight is installed under the prism. Press the light source start button and adjust the knob to change the angle of the prism. The light source shines on the prism. After being refracted by the prism, it emits seven colors of light, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, and projects it onto the column wall above the prism. Adjust the prism to change the angle of incident light, and find that the light refracted by the prism will also change. You can clearly see a beautiful rainbow appearing on the surface and top of the column. Participants can also learn about the prism color separation principle through touch on the console.
Press the light source start button, adjust the knob to change the angle of the prism, and observe the changes in the colorful light on the column.
