Purpose & Scientific Principle
The glass sheet is coated with optical coatings with different refractive indexes. The interface between the layers with different refractive indexes produces phase reflection, selectively enhancing certain wavelengths of light and interfering with other wavelengths. By controlling the thickness and number of layers, a certain range of frequencies of light can be allowed to pass through the optical coating, while other ranges of wavelengths are reflected. Through interaction, the audience learned about the principles of reflection, refraction and color mixing of light as well as the role of dichroic mirrors.
How to Operate
This exhibition item is mainly composed of motor, slider mechanism, dichroic mirror, light source and button. There are two rotatable dichroic mirrors installed in the center of the circular image display area of the exhibit; the two dichroic mirrors allow different wavelength bands of light to be transmitted; the motor and slider mechanism can drive the two lenses to open and close, and a spotlight is installed under the lens. There are automatic and manual buttons on the table. The audience presses the buttons respectively to start the light source. The two lenses change angles differently. The dichroic mirror projects colorful colors under the action of reflection and refraction.
1. The audience presses the automatic or manual button on the booth;
2. Watch the beautiful light bands formed by the dichroic mirror at different angles.
