Purpose & Scientific Principle
The Chinese nation has created a splendid ancient civilization, and its many outstanding scientific and technological inventions have shone in the long history of human civilization, forming a historical echo of the wisdom of our ancestors. Through the interactive magic wall, the exhibition allows the audience to actively explore and discover the ancient inventions and creations hidden in the "scrolls". It aims to break the common public's cognitive limitation that China only has "four great inventions" and highlight the dazzling and vast creative achievements of the Chinese world.
How to Operate
Important scientific and technological inventions and creations in ancient China: The "Four Great Inventions" are far from comprehensively summarizing the great scientific and technological creations of our ancient ancestors. As academic circles continue to deepen their understanding of the history of world civilizations, and as Chinese people's desire for "innovation" increases, people are making new considerations about the creativity of the Chinese people. The Institute of Natural Science History of the Chinese Academy of Sciences established the "Important Inventions and Creations" research group in August 2013 and launched the "Selection of Important Scientific and Technological Inventions and Creations in Ancient China". It selected 85 "Important Scientific and Technological Inventions and Creations in Ancient China" and roughly divided them into three categories: scientific discoveries and creations, technological inventions and engineering achievements. Among them, engineering achievements reflect the extraordinary ability of ancient people to create and utilize advanced technologies, involving smelting, water conservancy, construction, gardening, navigation and other technical categories.
