Purpose & Scientific Principle
The exhibition aims to use multimedia videos to tell the story of the ancient scientific and technological development achievements of Jianghuai land, the role it played in promoting the development of world science and technology, and the important scientific figures behind them, to guide the audience to explore the characteristics of Anhui's scientific and technological development, and to build self-confidence and pride.
How to Operate
Anhui Province is located in the Jinjiang River and Huaihe River area, which is rich in resources and talented people. Many scientists, inventors and skilled craftsmen have emerged in history, and have achieved many important research results, some of which were even leading in the world at that time.
1. Astronomical timing
Laozi's cosmology: "Tao is the origin of all things."
"Huainanzi": The year is divided into 24 equal parts, which is the earliest description of all the names of the twenty-four solar terms; one of the earliest records of the sunspot phenomenon in China; the earliest record of metal replacement reactions in China; making fire through ice lenses, etc.
Wang Fan: recalculated the length of the circumference of the sky based on the Pythagorean theorem, made a new armillary sphere, and wrote the book "The Map of the Armillary Sphere" to explain the principle of the armillary sphere; and pushed the accuracy of pi one step forward.
Geng Xun of the Sui Dynasty: Created a water transport system that did not require manpower; cooperated with Yu Wenkai to create an instant engraved leak that was easy to carry and use, and a water weighing leak that was fixed in front of the Qianyang Palace, which was much more sensitive than the floating arrow method for reading and engraving time.
2.Xin'an Medical
Xin'an medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine and has made significant contributions to the development of medicine in our country.
Hua Tuo, the "originator of surgery": invented Ma Fei Powder and was the first medical scientist in the world to invent anesthetics and use general anesthesia; he created Wu Qin Xi and contributed to sports and health.
The earliest extant medical history biography in China: Zhang Gao's "Yishuo" in the Southern Song Dynasty.
There are also Wu Kun, Jiang Wan, Fang Youzhi, etc., who have effectively promoted the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
3. Mechanical Engineering
Liu Jingxuan: An oxen is used to pull the "interlocking mill" that can turn the eight-part mill.
Zhan Xiyuan: The "Five-Wheel Hourglass" is very similar to later mechanical clocks in terms of the organization of the gear train, the time display disk (i.e. the view disk) and its hands.
Sun Shuao: The construction of Shaopi is a project with a high technical level.
