Purpose & Scientific Principle

This exhibit allows the audience to participate in fun running interactions, combined with multimedia interactive forms, to understand the scientific principles of the three cosmic speeds and their theoretical guiding significance for spacecraft launches.

How to Operate

The three major cosmic velocities are based on the study of the motion patterns of two particles under the action of gravity. People usually refer to the minimum launch speed required for a spacecraft to orbit the earth, break away from the earth, and fly out of the solar system. They are called the first cosmic speed (Newton calls it the orbiting speed), the second cosmic speed (detachment speed), and the third cosmic speed (the escape velocity of the sun).

The first cosmic speed is 7.9 kilometers/second. If an object reaches the speed of 7.9 kilometers/second, it will orbit the earth forever without falling from the sky. The first cosmic speed is the maximum speed at which artificial earth satellites orbit the earth in uniform circular motion. The first cosmic speed is also the speed at which near-Earth satellites orbit the earth in uniform circular motion.

The speed of the second universe is 11.2 kilometers/second. If an object reaches this speed, it will escape from the constraints of the earth and fly into interstellar space. We only want to escape from the speed.

The third cosmic speed is 16.7 kilometers/second. If you want to travel outside the solar system, you must reach this speed, which is the minimum speed for objects to escape from the solar system.

The "Three Cosmic Speeds" exhibit adopts a visually attractive ring-shaped exhibit appearance, and uses a real running interaction method that combines mechanical interaction and multimedia interaction. The treadmill adjusts the running speed according to the media video process, and the audience adjusts the running speed accordingly to complete the game tasks, thereby understanding the scientific content of the three cosmic speeds and spacecraft launches.
