Purpose & Scientific Principle
The exhibits use pictures and text combined with light strips to restore the entire orbital change process of "Chang'e-5" from the launch of the Earth into orbit to the returner and then recovery, allowing the audience to intuitively understand the process of human lunar exploration flight.
How to Operate
At 4:30 on November 24, 2020, China's Long March 5 Yaowu carrier rocket was ignited and lifted off at the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan. After more than 2,200 seconds of flight, it successfully sent the "Chang'e 5" lunar probe into the Earth-moon transfer orbit. The launch was a complete success. The Chang'e-5 probe consists of four cabin sections: the orbiter, the returner, the ascender, and the lander. It contains 15 subsystems and has a launch mass of 8.2 tons. During the flight, it successively completed the launch into orbit section, the Earth-moon transfer section, the near-moon braking section, the lunar flight section, the landing and descent section, the lunar surface working section, and the lunar working section. There are a total of 11 stages of the mission including the surface ascent stage, rendezvous and sample transfer stage, lunar waiting stage, lunar-Earth transfer stage, and re-entry and recovery stage. It has become China's first spacecraft to carry out unmanned lunar surface sampling and return. The success of its mission marks the successful realization of the three-step plan of "circling, landing and returning" of the Chang'e lunar exploration project.
The exhibits mainly show the flight trajectory of the "Chang'e-5" probe from the earth to the moon. During the interactive process, a light strip simulating the trajectory was set up to demonstrate the interaction, concretely representing the lunar exploration trajectory, and simulating the orbit change process of the "Chang'e-5" at various stages.
