Purpose & Scientific Principle
This exhibit uses LED light sources combined with a model device to simulate the earth's magnetic induction lines and solar wind cosmic radiation phenomena, allowing the audience to participate in the interaction with the exhibits, understand the rules of the earth's magnetic field, and understand the protective effect of the earth's magnetic field on the earth in the process of resisting solar storms.
How to Operate
The earth's magnetic field is the magnetic field distributed in space around the earth. Its magnetic south pole points roughly toward the geographic north pole, and its magnetic north pole points roughly toward the geographic south pole. The characteristic of magnetic field line distribution is that the direction of the magnetic field is horizontal near the equator, and vertical to the surface near the poles.
Cosmic rays are deflected as they pass through magnetic fields, which protect us from highly charged particles from the Sun (commonly known as the solar wind) and more unknown harmful radiation from the Milky Way, and help our planet protect its atmosphere.
The exhibits focus on showing the laws of the earth's magnetic field and emphasizing the protective effect of geomagnetism on the earth against solar storms.
