Through this exhibition, the audience can understand what synthetic bovine insulin is and its synthesis principle, as well as the process and significance of China's first synthesis of bovine insulin; let them feel the collaborative spirit of scientists in the research process of synthetic bovine insulin.
How to Operate
The exhibition items mainly display the following contents: (1) Introduction to artificially synthesized bovine insulin and demonstration of its synthesis principles; (2) The synthesis of crystallized bovine insulin represents an important step towards the synthesis of biologically active proteins. This synthesis work is the closest that Chinese scientific researchers have come to a Nobel Prize; (3) Under the coordination of the National Science and Technology Commission and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Biochemistry, the Institute of Organic Chemistry, and Peking University collaborated in August 1963 to jointly promote the research of artificially synthesized insulin. Synthetic bovine insulin embodies the wisdom of the older generation of Chinese scientists and the hard work and sweat of the majority of scientific researchers.
The exhibition items use molecular structure models to display, and use the disassembly and synthesis of the -2 sulfur bond, a key point in the technology of artificially synthesized bovine insulin, as an interactive method. Successful synthesis will trigger multimedia to introduce the principles of artificially synthesized bovine insulin, the efforts and dedication of scientists, and its historical significance.
