Purpose & Scientific Principle
Through this exhibition, the audience can realize the importance of oil to New China, and at the same time, let them understand Li Siguang's realistic spirit and oil exploration theory and exploration story that broke the theory of China's oil poverty.
How to Operate
The exhibition mainly displays the following contents: (1) At the beginning of the founding of New China, the urgency and significance of searching for oil; (2) Li Siguang broke the "China's oil-poor theory": the general theory is that oil is formed in marine sedimentary strata, but this type of strata has not been found in Northeast China, and it is believed that continental sedimentary strata will not produce oil. Li Siguang did not believe in the "China is poor in oil theory" and did not follow the traditional concepts of "marine phase" and "terrestrial phase". Instead, he broke the conventional thinking and started from the formation conditions and structure of oil. At the age of 66, he personally led a team to carry out oil exploration work, step by step, and each step was accurate to "0.85 meters", leaving it in his muscle memory. He told the students that geological research requires field trips, and the steps are rulers for measuring land and calculating rocks. Therefore, "the length of each step must be equal." (3) China's oil fields: an introduction to Karamay Oilfield, Daqing Oilfield, Dagang Oilfield, Shengli Oilfield, North China Oilfield, and Jianghan Oilfield.
The exhibition uses graphics, text, interactive electromechanical and desktop projections to let the public understand the great efforts and outstanding contributions made by geological scientists represented by Li Siguang to get rid of China's oil-poor reputation, and at the same time realize the importance of oil to New China.
