Purpose & Scientific Principle
The motion state of a motion system (the exhibit is a main pendulum and three auxiliary pendulums) is determined by the initial conditions when starting (the initial positions and starting speeds of the main and auxiliary pendulums). The movement of a simple pendulum is easy to predict, but because this large pendulum has three small pendulums connected to it, its movement is more complicated. Each pendulum affects the motion of the other pendulums, making the entire motion chaotic and unpredictable. Because you cannot make the initial conditions of the pendulum motion (i.e., the force of the rotating handle, speed, etc.) exactly the same every time, there will always be large or small differences, so the motion states will vary greatly
How to Operate
The main body of the chaos pendulum is a large disk, with three circular pendulums installed inside the disk. Turn the protruding rotating handle in the center of the glass to make the chaos pendulum start to swing. Observe the motion trajectory of the chaos pendulum and carefully observe the movement of the swing arm. You will find that the motion state of the pendulum is different every time. The three small pendulums swing and interact with each other to show an irregular motion state. This is a chaotic state. The audience can rotate the handle multiple times to watch the movement trajectory of the chaos pendulum. Operation method: The audience turns the rotating handle to make the chaos pendulum start to swing, and observe the movement trajectory of the swing arm.
