Purpose & Scientific Principle

The aim is to allow the audience to understand Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and the principles and applications of electromagnetic accelerators by observing the movement of small balls in the accelerator.

How to Operate

Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction shows that a wire located in a magnetic field will be pushed by a force when it is energized. At the same time, if the wire is allowed to move in the magnetic field to cut the magnetic lines of force, a current will also be generated in the wire. In the exhibition, the gun barrel is surrounded by a number of coils and sensors. When participants activate the switch, an electromagnetic induction phenomenon will be formed, which will generate a driving force to shoot the ball towards the target.

The electromagnetic betatron includes inner and outer ring induction bodies, which are spaced apart from each other by a predetermined interval, and whose inner and outer sides are coaxially and parallelly arranged so as to induce an induced magnetic field along the axial direction. The channel is between the inner and outer loop inductors, includes a dielectric layer in contact with the inner and outer loop inductors, and a secondary current is induced into the channel by a magnetic field between the dielectric layers. The discharge coil supplies pulse energy into the channel and generates plasma.

The metal ball simulates elementary particles such as electrons, and is driven and accelerated by a continuous electromagnetic coil, which intuitively simulates and demonstrates the working process of the electromagnetic accelerator. In modern society, in addition to particle accelerators in high-energy physics experiments, such electromagnetic accelerators are also used in maglev trains, electromagnetic guns, and carrier-based aircraft ejection devices of aircraft carriers.
