Purpose & Scientific Principle
It aims to allow the audience to independently become curious about electromagnetism through various interesting and surprising discharge phenomena; and combines the historical classic experiments of famous scientists such as Faraday and Tesla with the device to vividly reproduce the near-miss electromagnetic phenomena, allowing the audience to understand the electrical experiments such as capturing electricity and storing electricity done by scientists in history; and while watching the exhibition and teaching performances, they will be deeply impressed by electricity and feel the scientific spirit of having the courage to challenge authority.
How to Operate
A Faraday cage is a cage made of metal or a good conductor. It is a device named after the surname of the British physicist Michael Faraday, the founder of electromagnetism, and used to demonstrate the principles of equal potential, electrostatic shielding and high-voltage charging operations.
During the performance, several spectators are first asked to enter the cage and then close the cage door. The operator turns on the power and uses the discharge rod to perform a discharge demonstration. At this time, even if the person in the cage puts his hand on the wall of the cage and causes the discharge rod to discharge to his fingers, the person in the cage will not only not get an electric shock, but also can experience the cool feeling of the electronic wind. This is because the reason why the human body gets electric shock is that there is a potential difference in different parts of the body, and a strong current passes through the body. At this time, although the finger is close to the discharge spark, the discharge current is transmitted to the earth through the metal mesh in front of the finger. There is no potential difference in the body, and no current passes through, so there is no feeling of electric shock.
The demonstration of the Faraday Cage illustrates the principle of working with electricity at heights. The protective clothing of high-voltage live operators is made of metal wire. When it comes into contact with high-voltage lines, an equipotential is formed, so that no current passes through the operator's body, which plays a very good protective role. A Faraday cage with a grounded shell can effectively isolate the electric field and electromagnetic wave interference inside and outside the cage. This is called "electrostatic shielding". Many instruments and equipment use grounded metal casings to effectively avoid interference from electric fields inside and outside the casing. For example, people in cars will not be struck by lightning.
