Purpose & Scientific Principle

The aim is to let the audience use their own hands to cut the non-objectively existing magnetic field lines around the magnet with a straight wire, thereby producing the phenomenon of electric current. But in fact magnetic field lines do not exist, they are just imaginary to describe the magnetic field distribution.

How to Operate

Cutting magnetic field lines means that an object moves in a magnetic field, and the movement has a certain speed in the direction perpendicular to (or not parallel to) the magnetic field lines. When studying the problem, we can imagine the magnetic field lines as real lines and the conductor as a knife. When a conductor moves in a magnetic field in a direction that is not parallel to the magnetic field lines (such as perpendicular or oblique movement), we can say that the conductor moves in a magnetic field cutting the magnetic field lines. The movement of cutting magnetic field lines will generate electric current. This phenomenon is called electromagnetic induction, and the generated electric current is called induced current. It was first discovered by the British scientist Faraday in 1831. People made early generators based on this principle, ushering in the era of large-scale electricity consumption by mankind.
