How to Operate
Villa il Gioiello – the residence of Galileo Galilei from 1631 until his death. It was in this residence that Galileo wrote the Dialogue Concerning the Two Principal World Systems and his last masterpiece, Discourse and Mathematical Demonstration Relating to the Two New Sciences. This was also where he was imprisoned (1633-1642) during his period of house arrest after being denounced by the Church.
Galileo Galilei was a great Italian physicist and astronomer, the founder of modern science and modern physics. Galileo brought effective quantification into physics, used celestial observations to deny the geocentric theory, made a thermometer, discovered the law of inertia, the period formula of a simple pendulum, the formula of falling bodies, and the understanding of motion that was postulated as Galileo's theory of relativity. He was born three days before Michelangelo's death, as if to connect two eras: the Renaissance was complete and modern science was beginning to set sail.
