Purpose & Scientific Principle

Principle of magnetism generating electricity: When a part of the conductor in a closed circuit moves to cut the magnetic field lines, a current will be generated in the conductor. That is, if a current flows through a straight metal wire, a circular magnetic field will be generated in the space around the wire. The greater the current flowing in the wire, the stronger the magnetic field produced. The magnetic field forms a circle around the wire. Magnetism was discovered by Faraday in 1831.

How to Operate

The exhibition items are mainly composed of handwheels, coils, magnets, and light bulbs. Each fixed coil corresponds to a magnet, and turning the handwheel drives the magnet to rotate. When the magnet rotates, it cuts the magnetic field lines and induces an electric current, which lights up the light bulb connected to the coil. The faster it turns, the more induced electricity it generates, and the brighter the bulb becomes. The exhibition uses a simple mechanical structure to simulate the working principle of a hand-operated generator, allowing the audience to intuitively understand the composition and structure of the generator through an electromechanical interactive experience, and to peep into the mystery of how the generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Combined exhibits and magnetic bar coils share a booth.

Turn the hand wheel and observe the light bulb being lit.
