Purpose & Scientific Principle
The exhibition features a storm simulation room. Through the simulation experience of disaster climate, the audience can feel the huge power of powerful storms to human beings, allowing the audience to understand the huge threat of catastrophic climate to human beings.
How to Operate
A tropical cyclone is generated on the tropical or subtropical ocean. It is a giant rotating system composed of clouds, winds and thunderstorms. Its basic energy source is the release of vaporization heat when high-altitude water vapor condenses. Therefore, a tropical cyclone can be viewed as a giant heat engine supported by the earth's rotation and gravity. On the other hand, a tropical cyclone can also be viewed as a special mesoscale convective complex that continues to develop on a broad source of warm and moist airflow.
According to the notice of the China Meteorological Administration on the Implementation of National Standards for Tropical Cyclone Levels, tropical cyclones are divided into six levels based on the maximum wind speed near the bottom center, and "typhoon" is only one of them.
Tropical depression: wind speed 13.9 m/s to 17.1 m/s, maximum wind force 7 near the center;
Tropical storm: wind speed 17.2 m/s to 24.4 m/s, maximum wind force near the center of level 8 to 9;
Severe tropical storm: wind speed 24.5 m/s to 32.6 m/s, maximum wind force near the center of 10 to 11 levels;
Typhoon: wind speed 32.7 m/s to 41.4 m/s, maximum wind force near the center of 12 to 13 levels;
Strong typhoon: wind speed 41.5 m/s to 50.9 m/s, maximum wind force near the center of 14 to 15 levels;
Super typhoon: wind speed greater than or equal to 51.0 meters/second, wind force 16 or above.
The exhibits consist of cylindrical simulation chambers, fans, atomizers, strobe lights and other experience devices that simulate the storm environment. Participants will enter and experience the huge harm caused by storms to human beings.
