Purpose & Scientific Principle
The exhibits show the audience the impact of carbon reduction in daily life on the earth through touch inquiry and through every saving behavior in life. Let the audience understand how to achieve carbon reduction in life, and personal actions can also change the future of the earth, and guide the public to actively participate in carbon reduction actions.
How to Operate
Calculate the annual emission reduction data of groups of people in different ranges under the four actions of individuals:
Saving 1 kilowatt hour of electricity per day: For every 1 kilowatt hour of electricity saved, approximately 400 grams of standard coal and 4 liters of water can be saved, and the emission of approximately 272 grams of dust, 997 grams of carbon dioxide, 30 grams of sulfur dioxide, 15 grams of nitrogen oxides and other pollutants can be reduced. Energy-saving air conditioners consume 0.24 kilowatt hours less electricity per hour, energy-saving refrigerators save about 100 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, energy-saving washing machines consume half the electricity and save about 40% of water. According to estimates, if each household saves 10 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month, the country can save 45 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity every year, which is equivalent to the full-load power generation of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station for half a year, and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 45 million tons.
Use 1 less piece of paper every day: If each person in the country saves 1 piece of paper every day, 474.5 billion pieces of paper will be saved a year. A 20-year-old tree can make 3,000 sheets of A4 paper, and 1,581,666 trees will be saved.
Driving one less day per month: each vehicle can save approximately 44 liters of fuel per year and correspondingly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 98 kilograms.
Plant one tree per year: a medium-sized tree with a total leaf area equivalent to two acres of land. It can retain a large amount of dust, reducing the amount of dust falling by 23% - 55%, and the amount of flying dust can also be reduced by 37% - 60%.
The calculation formula refers to the "Resident Consumption Carbon Emission Accounting Model" ("China Residential Carbon Consumption Accounting and Carbon Reduction Pathways" by Wang Dong)
The specific calculation formula for calculating CO2 emissions from residential energy is as follows:
CE=Cj·NCVj·CCj·Oj·44/12
In the formula, CE refers to the CO2 emissions of residential energy, in Mt; j refers to the fuel type; AC refers to the physical amount of fossil fuels consumed, in 10,000 tons or billion cubic meters; NCV refers to the low heating value of each fuel, in kJ/kg or kJ/m3, low The calorific value is taken from the "China Energy Statistical Yearbook 2010"; CC refers to the carbon content of the fuel, in kg/GJ, and the carbon content adopts the IPCC reference value; O refers to the oxidation rate, using the IPCC default value of 100%; 44/12 is the coefficient for converting C to C02.
The calculation formula for the C02 emission coefficient of electricity consumption in China is as follows:
The calculation formula for CO2 emission coefficient of heat consumption in China is as follows:
The formula for energy CO2 emissions from residential private transportation is as follows:
CT=iBiCiCig/dDig/d
In the formula, CT is the CO2 emissions generated by residents’ transportation fuel consumption; A is the number of motor vehicles; B is the average annual mileage; C is the fuel economy of the vehicle; D is the carbon emission factor (calculated in CO2); i is the type of motor vehicle not used; g is gasoline; d is diesel.
The calculation formulas for indirect energy consumption and carbon emissions of various consumer expenditure items in residents’ life are as follows:
Eind=
Cind=
In the formula, Eind is the total indirect energy consumption of residents, Cind is the total indirect energy carbon emissions of residents, Xi is the per capita expenditure of the i-th category of Peter Pan expenditure items of residents, and P is the number of residents.
Energy consumption intensity of various industries from 2001 to 2007 (unit: 10,000 tons of standard coal/100 million yuan)
CO2 emission intensity of various industries from 2001 to 2007 (unit: 10,000 tons/100 million yuan)
The exhibits are based on individuals, showing how every little act of saving and reducing carbon in daily life can change the future of the earth, and guide the audience to actively participate in carbon reduction actions. Through the form of multimedia, the exhibits are placed on the sightseeing platform next to the core exhibit - Watching the Earth exhibit, echoing the theme of the exhibition area - "Revealing the role of carbon in the evolution of the earth and life, and showing the destiny choices of mankind behind the "double carbon" goal." Let the audience understand the scientific connotation and significance of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" through an immersive experience.
