Purpose & Scientific Principle
This exhibit restores the entire process of the Miller experiment through interactive experiments and panoramic simulations. Through interactive experimental operations, the audience can intuitively understand the process and principles of the Miller experiment. The process of producing organic matter (especially amino acids) through thunder and lightning in the reducing atmosphere of the original earth, and further understand the birth of life based on the theory of chemical origin.
How to Operate
In his experiment, Miller assumed that at the beginning of the origin of life, there were only hydrogen, ammonia, and water vapor in the atmosphere, and there was no oxygen. When he put these gases into the simulated atmosphere and detonated them with electricity, he found that some amino acids were produced. Amino acids are the basic units for synthesizing proteins, and proteins are the form of life. Therefore, he believed that the theory of life from scratch would be established, proving that life evolved.
The first stage, the stage of generating small organic molecules from inorganic small molecules, that is, the chemical evolution process of the origin of life, took place under primitive earth conditions.
The second stage is to generate biological macromolecules from organic small molecules. This process occurred in the primitive ocean.
The third stage is to form a multi-molecular system from biological macromolecules.
In the fourth stage, organic multi-molecular systems evolve into primitive life. This stage was formed in the primitive ocean and is the most complex and decisive stage in the origin of life.
The exhibits restore the process of Miller's experiment, using experimental devices combined with media image content, restoring the experimental process through lighting effects, and revealing the key links and significance of the experiment through media images, more intuitively demonstrating the principles and importance of Miller's experiment.
