Purpose & Scientific Principle
Through an interactive experience, this exhibit leads the audience to experience the progress of "Crust No. 1" toward the center of the earth during the operation, to understand how the key technologies of scientific drilling have contributed to the exploration of the earth, and to fully understand the rich and diverse mysteries of the earth's interior that humans have explored through this technology.
How to Operate
The development of the "Crust No. 1" 10,000-meter continental scientific drilling rig is one of the important achievements of the deep special project. The 10,000-meter drilling rig is designed to have an installed height of 60 meters and an area of more than 10,000 square meters. Its drilling capacity reaches 10,000 meters.
Current achievements: Songke Well 2 - a continental scientific drilling project with a depth of 7078 meters. It has obtained a complete and continuous record of the Cretaceous continental sedimentary strata, and created breakthroughs in key technologies such as large-diameter same-diameter coring, ultra-deep wells and ultra-long drilling distance continuous coring, and ultra-high-temperature drilling fluid systems.
Through the "Crust-1" drilling, it helps our country to effectively collect earth cores, which can be used to study climate evolution during the Cretaceous period and is of great significance for detecting the evolution of the human living environment in the future.
"Crust 1" scientific drilling focuses on displaying the advanced technological achievements of "Crust 1" and the exploration results of this scientific and technological means into the earth's interior. It uses interactive experience devices combined with multimedia digital screens to more intuitively and vividly display key technological highlights and the process of this technology's deep drilling into the earth's core.
